I am a Brit, born and raised here. I believe in the greatness of this country, having benefited throughout my life from the opportunities that it has afforded me. I enjoy reading about current affairs, politics, science, and technology. This website is a passion project at the intersection of these interests.
Growing up in the 90s, it never occurred to me that I was (and am) an ethnic minority. I felt proud of my family heritage, as I do today, but I also felt entirely British. Those around me accepted that as a simple fact.
That feeling of belonging and optimism has been eroded for many like me in recent years. What started as an entirely reasonable discussion about immigration has morphed into something much darker and more sinister. We have heard dog-whistle rhetoric demonising entire groups (initially Poles, then Romanians, and now Muslims and Jews); and that crescendo of hate has now elevated to outright racism in the form of violence on the streets and threats of "remigration".
I believe the country is at its best when it is strong, tolerant, and open, just as it was in the 90s. This website is not designed to convince you of that point. It merely serves a purpose for those who already accept this, allowing you to vote in a way that secures a positive future for this country.
